Look and Listen

Mark 4:21-25

What is the purpose of light? Light always allows us to be able to properly see what is in front of us. It prepares us for obstacles and road blocks that will come our way. The light is there to aid in our guidance on the path that God has for us. The good thing about it all is that we have choices in our lives. The choices we make will dictate how our life goes.

In the text we see that the lamp is mentioned and how it should be used. You don’t turn a light on in your house and then put on blinders or cover the light, if that was the case then the light would be improperly used. This is why we need to be ever so mindful of what we see and what we hear. We must remember that we can’t stay focused on the light but use the light to our advantage. We must also use our spiritual eyes when being faced with certain situations.

Along with the light we must also use our ears and be aware of what is being said and what is not being said as well. We must be mindful of our surroundings and situations that we are placed in. The things we hear we must be able to differentiate or discern what we can apply and what we cannot apply. Hearing God’s message and applying God’s message to our lives is two different things.

In our life we must do our best to see what God has planned for us and hear His voice in whatever form it may come in. Our goal is to ensure that our ears, eyes, heart, mind and soul are open to receive where God is taking and directing us. Remember not to get so caught up on looking into the light that you vision gets blurry. God will take you where you are and get you to where you need to go in His will, in His time, in His way! God will do His part if we continue to do our part and make sure we look and listen to what is going on. God will bless when we move with Him! Keep looking and keep listening.
